CDS/ISIS Distribution Centre

Since 1987 the National Library of Portugal (BNP) is the official national distributor of CDS/ISIS: bibliographic management software developed and issued by UNESCO. The most recent version may be acquired at the PORBASE secretary office.

Since 1987 the National Library has distributed various versions of an application, using CDS/ISIS, to automate cataloguing and normalize bibliographic searches according to PORBASE requisites. This application, also denominated PORBASE, uses the UNIMARC format guaranteeing total compatibility between local databases and PORBASE.

Distributed to more than a thousand institutions, the PORBASE parameterization of CDS/ISIS constitutes a normalized and normalizing professional instrument allowing libraries not only to exchange compatible bibliographic information but also contribute to the PORBASE catalogue.
